LHRH, like testosterone, is a hormone. It is produced in a part of the brain called the hypothalamus and regulates how much testosterone is in the blood.
The relationship between LHRH and testosterone is very straightforward:
Prostap DCS is an LHRH agonist. This means it causes the hypothalamus to stop producing LHRH, which dramatically reduces the levels of testosterone in the blood. The result is that the prostate tumour is starved of testosterone, so it slows the growth. The tumour may even shrink.
As with any treatment, Prostap DCS may come with some side effects. Most of these are linked to the reduction in testosterone. You can find out more about these in the ‘What to expect from Prostap DCS’ section.
